The session started with everyone feeling a little more powerful!! The group met their new friend Kyler Blint how was The group camped not to far from the goblin fortress. In the morning Voskas did some scouting around the building while Kyler and Bl'nx helped each other into their armour. His scouting revealed a door in the front, a door in the back (blocked by a large storm) as well as a large hole in the roof with full grown tree growing through it. The group decided to try moving the stone in the back but found that it was too big for even Kyler AND Bl'nx. Saloch had a more magical solution. He cast soften earth turning a giant
boulder into giant molding clay. The team then snuck into the fortress after Kyler knocked on the back door. The group found themselves in a hallway where they found a doorway that led to a dining room. The group busted in and killed all five hobgoblins. Highlights include a hobgoblin stabbing Voskas in the foot through the table. After killing all the hobgoblins the team moved to the next room down the hall and found two goblins drinking. Bl'nx wanted to leave them alone but Voskas wanted to interrogate them. In one quick motion Voskas tackled one from his chair and put a knife to his throat. The goblin gave up most of the information asked including that there were at least more than 4 hobgoblins in the fortress, that the mechanical doll was on the second floor and that the door to the residential area isn't locked and that the Ogre is in the next room over. Voskas then slit the goblins throat and Bl'nx knocked the other goblin out. Kyler than took off the goblins pants and tied him upside-down to a torch fixture. The group decided to face the Ogre next.

Kylar Blint
Eric's completed his character (see above). LEARN HIM WELL! Here's his back story
Ok here's the bit about Kylar. "His name is Kylar Blint, His name is Kylar Blint." lol but enough of fight club, this guy's not dead yet.
Kylar was born and raised in (what I can make out on the map you provided) Grice Farming Town. (maybe I'm reading it wrong but it's hard to make out. Please correct me if I'm wrong for as funny as it would be for my character to not know the actual name of his home town...) His Mother's name is Alice (49 yrs old) and his father is Vahn (51 yes old), and he has a younger brother Durzo (12) and an older sister Nora (32). Kylar was raised in the life of a farmer, but always though it to be boring, he found fighting much more interesting. He always wanted to test his strength and skill against others growing up. He trained with a sword at a young age, against his mother's wishes, and by age 13 was rather formidable with a longsword. After his 14th birthday he moved on to train with a Bastard sword and quickly fell in love with the blade. It wasn't as cumbersome as a greatsword and still comfortably possible to wield in one hand, allowing the use of his now new favorite kite shield. His father always told him that his skill with a sword would help him when it was his time to serve, this was something Kylar took to heart. When his time would come, he would gladly serve and then he'd be able to live a different life, if at least only for a little while, he would be something more than just a farmhand.
While he was serving he came to dislike it. There were to much restrictions to what he can do and how much time was actually his own. So when his time came to an end he returned home for a short time. He couldn't adjust himself back to the life of a farmer, so he left half of the gold he had saved in service with his family and left to be a mercenary. The last time he had seen his family was when his older sister got married. Nora married the son of the town's mayor (or whatever that title is in the world). Now at age 27 he's made a small name for himself. Kylar's a nice man with a bit of a temper. He tries to stop himself from letting his temper worsen a situation, but when he's further provoked, people learn he can be a bit sadistic. (As a mercenary he would have joined an appropriate guild for steady work) Kylar doesn't usually have problems helping other people, he will go out of his way to do so if it doesn't mean to much risk to himself or others he's with. He'll gladly help but if he's dead or deathly injured, he's no help to anyone.
He stands 5' 10", with tanned skin. Wears his red hair short (brush cut), and has green eyes. He has a scar on his right cheek, left from an old stab wound. He wears worn clothing under his armor, not ragged or torn, just well worn thin. Holiday's dont really interest him, but with the right people around he can step out of that norm. He always has his armor on when not sleeping, and he rarely has his helm's visor open. He will open it when asked but will not leave it open long. He wields a Bastard Sword, and a Kite Shield (heavy steel shield), both of wich are of remarkable quality (masterwork). His Fullplate armor is not only remarkably made (also masterwork) but is also spiked.

Short one player
This is just something to consider. With Donna not playing in the group anymore we now have a problem. In the group that already had a sort of mish-mash rag-tag combination of classes we have now lost the muscle. To rectify this problem we have two options really. Either one of you or I play a second character or we invite a new player into the group. Off the top of my head I know that Eric likes to play D&D and knows the system well enough. If anyone knows anyone else who would like to play feel free to make suggestions. Just something to think about . . .
Session Nine - Feeling Fine
Session nine was completed last night. A brief update of attendence follows: Donna has gone on hiatus and we are not sure if and when she shall return to us. Kevin was not present for the night's session leaving me to run it and Tyler and Mike to play it. To pick up where we left off, the players had just finished combat with the hobgoblins and goblins saving the halflings. The halflings were grateful and moved their caravan into the city limits. Searching the goblins yeilded some crude weapons and armour as well as some coins and a map that indicated where the goblins fortress may be. One of the choice finds what a masterwork studded leather armour that Saloch picked off of the leading hobgoblins. The party decided to sell their loot in the morning and make their way to the fortress. Before they left town Eden decided to split off from the group stating that her mission is just to find new recipes for alchohol and that this is becoming to violent for her tastes. Guessing by the map they expect it to take them two days traveling on horses. Once they had entered the deeper part of the forest, about half a days travel, the party happened up two satyrs, one of them playing pipes and the other wishing to talk with them. Saloch began to question the saytrs about slippy pete and the goblins. The satyr explained that he would be happy to tell them if Saloch would give the saytr his armour. Saloch traded and got two bits of information from the satyr. The first is that Slippy Petes name is Zedon Zalon and that the woodland creatures call him the bug master or master of bugs. The second is that in the fortress they are going to the total number of goblins is 2. The party continued in the forest and a day later they found a gather of fey. In a clearing in the forest there was a large 200 foot diameter pond with an island in the center that had a great oak tree on it. From here the party gained a hobgoblin that was pretty much perma-stunned and the knowledge that the goblins in the fortress have brought a large oafish beast with them for protection. Something very stupid and very big. The party continued their travels and made it to the fortress by nightfall.

Session Eight
Session Eight is a go!! Same place, same time. Brief Recap: You turned in your quest, went shopping, met slippy pete in a jewlery shop where you found him buying large gems. He took off after a brief scuffle in the shop. The party left Roysail for Crestways. While sleeping a halfling ran into the inn and told the party how his family's caravan was under attack. The party lept to the resuce and beat the crap out of some goblins they haven't looted.

Session Seven - A recap
Session seven picked up with the characters in a bar. Famros has left them now to plead his cause to the king for more troops to come and support the people on the road and to deal with the goblin problem. The players made a gather information check and found out that the caravan that carried the item they are looking for has actually passed through Roysail. The players decided to finish up some shopping and get some horses. Bl'nx went to the temple to Garl Glittergold while Saloch and Eden went to the market district. Once in the market district they found Slippy Pete buying a large emerald. The Saloch and Eden decided to arrest him but Slippy Pete states he won't go with them as they have no proof of his involvment. Saloch sent Ellie to go find Bl'nx and Voskas and Ellie returned with Bl'nx. Again the party continued to try to arrest him to the point of attempting to steal his some of his hair as a means to scry on him. This happened in the form of Eden trying to stun him with her monk abilities and when that failed attempting to grapple him which he deftly dodged. At this point the shopkeeper started freaking out and Saloch decided that this wasn't going anywhere and that they should wait until they know more before they can attempt to bring him to justice. Also Slippy Pete used his IOU to get Bl'nx to leave him alone.

The Last Post of it's Kind
Notice the time stamp of this post. Sometime after 12:00 PM but before the actual session scheduled for today. I've noticed there has been some confusion as to when information gets posted and most of this is my fault. I have failed you all in not setting a standard time by which all information needed for the upcoming session will be posted. From this day forward the blog updates it's final post by 12:00 PM on the day of the scheduled session. Furthermore to alert you all to when I update the blog I am willing to use my twitter account to send notifications of blog activity. You can follow me on twitter, my handle is Mr_Dorian_Grey. I've set my twitter account up to receive an RSS feed from the blog so whenever I post an article here twitter will get the update in, at most, 30 minutes. The nice part about this is you can get a twitter account and have it send updates to your phone via text messages for no charge. This is a good way to stay informed without having to download software or install anything on anything else.
If you don't want to be posting phone information on twitter your other option would be just to get a feed reader. These are programs that can subscribe to RSS feeds and automatically download them to your computer for you to read at your leisure. The main advantages here are they are faster to recieve updates and you don't have to give out any personal information. The disadvantage to this method is it isn't as portable (Unless you get an rss reader for your phone) and it downloads all the posts as well you have to install it on a computer. I've done a little research and found some feed readers. The top pick of blogspace.com was SharpReader (updated more fequently) with FeedReader (prettier website) as a close second. It should be noted here that those are Feed Readers for windows. If you want a feed reader for another operating system just follow the link above to blogspace. The blog feed url is http://elbatron.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default.

Session Seven
Session Seven is a go at the house of the hospitable and too good to be true Mike. 6:30 shall be the time for which people should gather. For a brief recap of of the last session (the full recap can be read here or by scrolling down slightly and clicking read more on the previous article) can be read following this sentence. Everyone walked from the temple of Fharlanghn to Roysail, joined an adventurers guild and picked up a quest. Also this session I may be a bit more strict on how time is spent so I might interrupt people if things start to get off track. That being said I myself shall try to lead by example and perhaps have a 10 minute intermission about halfway through the session.

Session Six - All Travel
So session six came to a conclusion last night. This session mostly consisted of travelling to Roysail to drop off and pick up that quest that was part of the main quest. We started off at the temple/tavern to Fharlaughn. Most of the PC's just got into random bar antics. Eden and Voskas found out that the bar made an extremely potent drink and Eden had to get the recipe for it. That bartender agreed to give it to her if she would take some precautions. She agreed and they saw the cleric who performed a ritual to ensure her honesty. Bl'nx spent the night gambling with Saloch and Voskas got really drunk and hooked up with an ok looking girl.

Session Six
So tonight's session is a go. Same time (6:30) same place (the moon). For a quick recap of last session, the party went exploring and followed a trail to the camp fire where they met a mysterious stranger who had helped them in the past. They then went back to the cave to sleep for a while and when they woke up they paid Breries for the child. As Breries left the party ganked her in a hallway and took all the gold. The child was nearly killed in the process but survived. They took the child with them to the temple of Farhlalsdke;oig which also turned out have a tavern/inn attached to it. They met up with Famros and Mr Spelloyal and returned the daughter to it's rightful owner.

Session Five - Victory
Session Five
Session Five will be at Mike's place tonight at 6:30. Don't forget to bring your dice. As a small recap of what happened last session: The party met an old robed man in the woods and he led them to a cave inhabited by goblins where he figured the goblins they were looking for would be. When the players got into a fight with the goblins inside the cave an slayed them all. They then explored the cave and found the girl they're looking for and a magic user guarding her. The girl turned out to be guarded be linked to the magic user through dark magic so that any wound the magic user takes slowly heals and appears on the girl. The girl has already been injured as a result of the party attacking the magic user and right now we are in a bit of a stalemate as the party can't rightly kill the magic user and the the magic user is incapable of killing the party all at once. For a longer, more detailed recap clickitly click right here.

Session 4 - Villainry Discovered
Our heroes continued their journey to find the goblins and rescue the merchants daughter. They took what they would from the now vanquished goblins and continued to follow the trail which takes them into a forest. Along the way they encountered a robed figure living in the the forest cooking a rabbit. Bl'nx approached him and they were happy to find that he knew the forest quite well and was willing to take them to the closest goblin lair. He brought them within a minutes walk from the goblins cave and preceded to go no futher just giving them directions. Bl'nx, feeling a need to reward the man, wrote him an IOU for the man to use should he ever have need.

Race Relations in the lands of Azurial
Unknown to many of you was the name of the Kingdom of which you live in or the name of your king. Well have no fear as soon all will be revealed in the following document: A Brief Description of Race Relations and Some Minor Points of History in the Lands of Azurial. Read it after the jump.
New House Rule - Permanency
After reviewing the rules regarding permanency I have to agree with Jonathan Drain that it is just too fragile. As such we will use the variant rule he has come up with.
Anything permanencied on oneself can only be suppressed by 1d4 minutes by a caster of equal or higher level to the caster’s current level.
This should make life a little easier on a group that has no primary arcane casters. As well you won't have to worry about spending loads of money on something that can just be wiped out with a dispell from some punk ass caster. In addition to his rules I'm creating a clause that someone casts dispel magic followed by permanency then the magic is permanently dispeled.

So Our Epic Tale Begins
28th of the Earthy Month
The tale of our unsung heroes begins. The druid Saloch, rouge Voskas, monk Eden and the Paladin sometimes known as Bl'nx have been called to the town of Kalamath by mutual friend Famros Chorster, a messenger to the Duke Fruril Milner. After brief introductions Famros explains to his friends over mugs of the worst tasting ale that the Duke has had an item stolen from him and he wants Famros to deliver a letter to the Adventurers guild of Raysail. Famros has come up with the idea of his friends doing taking the job and sending him a little kickback in exchange ensuring they get a lucrative job. The party agree's and they set out the next day at noon on their travel to Raysail.
Session Three
Session Three is on tonight (sorry bout the late posting) at 6:30 at Mikes place. All's we's got's to do's now's is finish up some peoples characters (equipment mostly) and get you guys in the game. Hopefully you've all thought of your backstories as nothing is more annoying then people who don't have back stories. A little prelude to the third session. As mentioned before you are all meeting in a tavern in the town of Kalmath by your friend Famros Chorster. A nice human boy whom you are all friends with one way or another. He has gotten you together to discuss an oppurtunity he belives will be mutually benefical to you all.

Session Two All Over
With Session Two concluded we finally put those children of your imaginations on paper. While the standard group usually consists of a fighter, cleric, wizard or sorcerer and a rogue our noble group shall written in the pages of history through the efforts of a druid (Mike), monk (Donna), paladin (Kevin) and rogue (Tyler). That being said character creation is far from over. There's still back stories and how everyone in the group knows each other. The give you some information that may help in this endeavor your first quest begins with all of you meeting in a town at the behest of a friend. He has an opportunity that he would like to discuss with all of you. The starting town is primarily human should you choose to make it your home town. For those of you with gnome characters there are two very small gnome settlement that are about a 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 days travel from the starting town. If you need to see the map again to determine where about your home town may be I have re-posted it below with some added cities and terrain. I also renamed 2 features.

Session Two
Well session two is right around the corner. The focus of this session will be building the characters and the party. Unfortunately Kevin will not be joining us due to his school workload. - Tyler - Rogue
- Donna - Monk
- Mike - Druid however he is willing to play anything
- Kevin - Deathknight however this isn't likely to become a reality

House Rules
I've thrown together a few house rules and organized them by relevancy. These are subject to change but I'll let you guys know when that may be. Not all of these are originally mine, in fact I borrowed quite a few from Jonathan Drain's blog D20 source and you can find his site here. These rules are meant to ensure fair play, keep the game moving with out spending 2 hours on a basic combat encounter and to add a little more flavour to the the game.
The Calendar and the Holidays
No world would be complete without holidays! I've prepared some information that will further build onto the world your characters live in and interact with. The year of this campaign is broken into 12 months with 30 days in each. This results in 360 day years and 4 seasons to a year. Days are still twenty for hours, weeks are still 7 days. To give credit where credit is due some of these month names I took from a list of month names compiled by Shamus Young who runs Twenty Sided which is a fantastic blog for Dungeons and Dragons among other things and is really the inspiration of using a blog for a campaign although Jonathan Drain gets some credit too. The article of Shamus Young's that lists the months can be found here. The names that aren't from Shamus Young have been lifted from the Finnish Culture.
The month's names are:
Month of Winters Heart - Named for the coldest and darkest time of the year
Month of Pearl - Named for the ice coated trees made visible by the return of the sun
Earthy Month - Named for the earth that is finally visible under the snow
Burnwood Month - Named for the wood that is burned as farmers clear land
Newbloom Month - Named for the flowers
Ripetide Month - Named for the month where the fishing is most profitable
Suncrest Month - Named for the month where the sun is highest
Month of Summer's End - Duh
Month of Lands Blessing - Named for the crops that begin to ripen
Month of Harvest - Named for the harvesting that takes place all month
Deadyear Month - After spring and summer the world turns dark and the year dies.
Wintertide Month - Named for the freezing that occurs in the rivers and lakes ceasing contact with many of the Aquan races that dwell inshore.
Each race has a number of different holidays that the observe. Below are the holidays and the races that celebrate them. Most of these were taken from the races of stone and races of wild books. It should be noted however that these are not the only holidays in existence. Towns and villages will have their own holidays as will other nations and races. The few listed below represent the most important holidays in these races life. I've also made a calender of the year which is posted after all the holidays. It also lists the 1st day of each season.

Session One
To those of you who have found this site well done!! I'll probably be using this blog as an easy means to keep you guys updated on the scheduling of the D&D campaign as well as posting house rules and other things. I would like the focus of this campaign to be more on role playing than roll playing so do put some thought into your characters and if anyone want to play the stoic dark hero they are going to be really bored. The setting and theme of this D&D campaign is more of a traditional dungeons and dragons world however the exact nature of the campaign will depend on you guys.
The first session is planned for this Tuesday at Tyler's house. For those of you who don't know where he lives his address is Tai's House. The primary purpose of this session is to build the world. I am using an a system called cooperative world building, more information on that can be found here http://www.savevsdm.com/?p=129, to make sure everyone sorta has a say in the world being made and that at the start of your characters lives you all atleast know something about the world. I ask that you read the article before the session so you have some ideas in your head before we start the world building. The people who have been invited to play in this campaign are: mischeif prone Mike and attuned with nature Donna Edison, treasure hunting Mike McCarthy, shrouded in arcane mystery Kevin MacAulay Vacheresse and divine punishment administrating Tyler Jacob.
I don't expect the world building to take up the entire night so if there is time left over we will be able to make our characters. As I don't really want to deal with a myriad of specialized classes and freaky races I am restricting playable races to those found in the Players Handbook and classes to those found in the Players Handbook and the Dungeon Master's Guide. Your characters will be starting at level 2 as I find level 1 characters are a pain to work with. If you have anyone questions or comments or want author priviliges feel free to leave comments or text me.
Recap
Session 1 will be about world building and hopefully character creation. You can read about the cooperative world building system here http://www.savevsdm.com/?p=129.
